Praying with the songs of Taizé, Tues. Mar. 6, at 7:30 pm

Come join us on Tuesday, March 6 — community worship with Eucharist is offered at 5:30 p.m., followed by supper at 6:30 p.m., and then — praying with the songs of Taizé at 7:30 p.m.

Taizé worship is contemplative and meditative in character, using short songs, repeated again and again in a candle lit chapel.

Using just a few words, the songs express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind. As the words are sung over many times, the hope is this reality will gradually penetrate one’s whole being. Meditative singing thus becomes a way of listening to God.

We invite you to participate in our practice of Taizé which includes singing, prayer for Metropolitan Richmond, and a period of silence. Jim Bennett is a skilled musician and leads this time of worship with a variety of musical instruments.

Leader: Jim Bennett
7:30 p.m. first Tuesday of each month

  1. Sally Mills says:

    Hi,
Is the community supper on January 2 (and other dates) a potluck?

    Thank you,
    Sally Mills

Hi Sally — We do the shopping, cooking and the clean-up, you enjoy the supper and the fellowship. We ask for a small ($5-10) donation to help with our cost for providing the meal.

  2. Has Taize officially shifted to the 1st Tuesday of each month (rather than the 1st Monday, as before)? Just wanted to double-check, as it has been a highlight of our month, in the past. Thank you!

Yes, Praying with the Songs of Taizé is now offered at 7:30 pm on the first Tuesday of every month. Our Community Worship also happens on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm, with dinner following the service. Thanks for checking!
