The 2019 Amazing Praise was an Amazing Success

Updated onSeptember 30, 2019

The Amazing Praise is a collaborative, online 48-hour giving celebration of God and the transforming work being done in Jesus’ name across Richmond.  It ran from noon on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 and concluded at noon on Thursday, September 26.  Here’s some of how we celebrated:

  • We held a special edition of our weekly community worship on Tuesday, September 24, at 5:30pm.  Richmond Hill’s Lindsey Franklin preached a message on the curious connection between money, shame, and effective stewardship in her sermon on the Dishonest Manager (listen on SoundCloud).
  • We invited folks to drop-in on Wednesday, September 25 between 3:00pm and 6:00pm for fellowship, tours, refreshments, and celebration. We wraped up the fun with our 6:00pm prayers.
  • We marked the close of the Amazing Praise with our noon prayers on Thursday, September 26, celebrting the gifts raised for all 20 participating nonprofits and enjoying lunch afterwards.

While the official event has concluded, it is not too late to donate!  You may do so right from this page, or you may visit our regular online giving portal.  Either way, your financial contribution in support of Richmond Hill’s operating fund enables our radical hospitality, transformative programs, and commitments to racial reconciliation and spiritual development.  And…. new donors or those increasing their giving from last year will still be matched (up to a total of $20,000).

We gave away some great prizes

  •  $25 gift certificate to the Richmond Hill bookstore: one winner drawn randomly each day from amongst that day’s donors
  •  A Richmond Hill t-shirt: awarded to the donor whose gift is closest to 11:30 (Richmond Hill purchased its property on November 30 . . . 11/30).  Four chances to win: 11:30pm on 9/24, 11:30am and 11:30pm on 9/25, and 11:30am on 9/26
  •  GRAND PRIZE: $250 Richmond Hill gift certificate(good for use in the bookstore, for a retreat, etc.; good through 12/31/2020; transferable)
