Welcome Rev. Tripp Hudgins

Updated onNovember 9, 2025
Rev. Tripp Hudgins & Patricia Austin

We are filled with immense joy, optimism, and gratitude in announcing the appointment of the Rev. Tripp Hudgins to be the next Pastoral Director of Richmond Hill.

Tripp is well known to many of us. He began his association with this beloved place as a young twenty-something member of the residential community. His experience ranges from church ministry to seminary director of admissions to design assistant to hospice chaplain, with much other work in between. He has been an adjunct professor of theology, homiletics, and liturgy, is the author of several journal articles, and has given many presentations and workshops. In addition to Tripp’s time as a Richmond Hill resident, he and Trish lived in community for nine years in Berkeley, during which time their son was born. Most recently, he has served Richmond Hill as a valued member of the Council and the Development Committee. He is ordained in the Baptist tradition and is a professed Third Order Franciscan. Throughout all his many and varied experiences, his sense of service and ministry and his desire to follow God’s call have endured.

Tripp and his family will be moving into the residential community in mid-July and, after some time to settle into their new home and a family vacation, he will begin in his new position on August 4, 2025.

We will be inviting you to a special welcome of Tripp and his family to the residential community and the commissioning of Tripp as our Pastoral Director. We hope you can join us for a joyous celebration.

The Holy Spirit has been leading and guiding this process, and we are confident that we have the right leader for Richmond Hill in this time. Tripp’s ministry and life of faith have led him to this moment, and the years of Richmond Hill’s growth and development have prepared this place for his leadership. The Holy Spirit has chosen this time to bring us all together.

Please join us as we welcome him, his spouse Trish, and their son to our shared ministry!
