Apply now for the 2023-24 Koinonia School!

Updated onJanuary 15, 2024

The school is designed to equip people in three ways: to engage in transformative and self-reflective work around race; to engage in constructive dialogue regarding issues of race and justice; and to engage in the larger community to promote social justice.

Applicants must be willing to explore and reevaluate their beliefs about racial and social justice as well as make a nine-month commitment to the KOINONIA program. Retreats are once a month and are 24-hours, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.  (Retreat dates are listed below.)

To apply, applicants need to complete the following steps:

  • Download, review, and complete the KOINONIA Application (PDF)
  • Submit a $25 application fee
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a colleague
  • Be personally interviewed by members of the KOINONIA faculty

The deadline has been extended and applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis. Each cohort is open to 24 persons and the annual cost is $1500. We will attempt to make certain that persons who are called to this program are able to afford it. Payment schedules can be arranged, and some financial assistance is available. Applicants will be selected after interviews. Please note that every effort will be made to create a cohort balanced by denomination, race, and gender. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed if there is still space available.

The KOINONIA School of Race and Justice intends to be a part of God’s ministry of racial reconciliation and is grounded in the Christian tradition. We believe everyone can engage in reducing racism by being instruments of justice in their own sphere of influence. Learn more about our vision for the school, a list of faculty, as well as the monthly topics by visiting the KOINONIA School web page.
