Join The Richmond Hill Residential Community

Building a beloved community.

The residential Christian community lives at the heart of Richmond Hill. Committed to the mission of the racial healing of metropolitan Richmond through prayer, hospitality, and spiritual development, the residents maintain a daily prayer schedule, host guests, and look after the buildings and grounds.

Each member of the residential community has felt called to the rhythm of life and service at Richmond Hill. Some have joined for 3-5 years and others have spent over a decade living and serving here. Each person has a unique story, but many share common themes of a longing to be part of a beloved community, the desire to seek God or follow Jesus every day, the call to hospitality, and a passion for pursuing racial justice.

Do you feel called to intentional Christian community?

Residency at Richmond Hill might be right for you if…

You long for grounding spiritual practices

As a resident at Richmond Hill, you would be invited to participate in our rule of life, which includes praying for Metropolitan Richmond three times a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

You feel called to the ministry of hospitality

The Richmond Hill residential community serves as the core team of people who welcome and care for the many people who visit on various retreats throughout the year.

You have a heart for the city of Richmond and believe in the transformative power of community

Our mission at Richmond Hill is to seek God’s transformation of the city. We do this work AS a community, and believe that this transformation happens best THROUGH community.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Richmond Hill facility has a number of beautiful, unfurnished apartments. These apartments come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and an appartment would be assigned to you based on availability and your needs. The cost of housing is completely covered by Richmond Hill.

As a retreat center, we are frequently preparing food for the groups staying with us on retreat. Any time a meal is served at Richmond Hill, residents are always welcome to partake, and are encouraged to eat any leftovers that may accumulate. Anytime a meal is not being served and there are no leftovers available, residents are responsible for feeding themselves and their families, and are welcome to cook in the communal kitchen. All resident grocery costs are covered by Richmond Hill.

Richmond Hill provides robust heal insurance coverage for residents and their families!

There is no obligation to stay as a resident at Richmond Hill for any specific amount of time, but to protect the stability and well-being of the community, we stongly encourage residents to stay for at least a year before deciding to leave. The majority of residents stay for around three years, but some have remained for as long as a decade!

Aside from spouses and children, all full-time residents also serve as staff members at Richmond Hill. If you are unsure about what capacity you might serve in as a staff member, but still feel called to residency at Richmond Hill, you are still warmly invited to apply.

On top of your staff responsibilities (whatever those may be), full-time residents are also expected to attend daily prayer at 7:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 5:30 pm whenever they are on campus, pitch in with hospitality and cleaning duties as needed, and co-host group retreats approx. one weeked every month.

Please fill out the form below, and our pastoral director will contact you about interest as soon a possible.

Thank you for you interest in joining the residential community at Richmond Hill!
