Listening to the Silence: January 3, 2026

Updated onJanuary 14, 2026

Use your quiet time to reflect, respond, and rest in God’s unwavering love.

At the start of a new year, join your spiritual guide, Rita Ricks, for a day of journaling, silence, and exploration. Leave your phone behind; bring your journal and your Bible and prepare to connect with your Creator as you wander the quiet gardens and hidden retreats of Richmond Hill.

Arrive at Richmond Hill at 8:45 a.m. to begin this spiritual experience. The program runs from 9 am to 4 pm, and lunch and chapel are included.  Participants will be given a SILENCE tag so as not to be disturbed during exploration, and lunch will be eaten in silence.

Rita Ricks, a Spiritual Transformation Expert, created and facilitates this workshop. She found silence at Richmond Hill while attending RUAH from 2009 to 2011, and is a strong proponent of her mantra: “The solution is in the Silence.”  You can read more about her on website.

Her colleague Angela Lightfoot is a spiritual mental health and wellness coach and co-facilitates this workshop at Richmond Hill. (She also facilitates Listening to the Silence virtually on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.)

Be still and know. Begin and end the day sharing your thoughts and experiences in intimate dialogue with your peers and with Rita as your guide.

Suggested donation $55 which includes lunch. There are also reduced rate and pay-it-forward registration options.

For further information, please contact Rev. Sheryl Johnson (sjohnson@richmondhillva.org, 804-783-7903).
